A Bit Of Knicks News

This is just a bit of Knicks news, considering they have the day off.

There are 16 games to go in the season.

“Winning three out of four and putting ourselves back into the hunt, we’re excited to go back home and win two games in the Garden,” David Lee said.

The upcoming schedule is favorable towards the Knicks, they get the Nets and the Kings at home and than a home-home split against the Magic and than home against the Clippers.

While the Magic are a fantastic team i think the Knicks can pull off the home win, and after this next week and a half should have 4 more wins under their belt, which should have them right in the 8th playoff spot.

The Knicks could use some help but they ultimately control their own destiny, seeing how they are only 1 game out of the last playoff spot.

C Eddy Curry (sore right knee) is practicing and getting in shape before he returns to action.

G Chris Duhon (sore lower back) is going to be re-evaluated Tuesday and may play against the Nets.

Yanks Shut Out Philly in Rout

Joba Chamberlain and Kei Igawa each pitched 3 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out three.

Brian Bruney, Johnathan Albaladejo and David Robertson each pitched scoreless innings.

Nick Swisher led the Yankees with 3 hits and 3 RBI.

Cody Ransom, Shelly Duncan and Xavier Nady each had 2 hits apeice.

Good to see the Yanks bring out the bats today, also great to see Joba continue to improve.

Another note, Kei Igawa continued his hot spring and still hasnt allowed a run, much to the surprise of many.

The Yankees will host the Pirates on Tuesday at Steinbrenner Field, facing off in a 7:15 p.m. start. Left-hander CC Sabathia will make his third start, with right-hander Virgil Vasquez on the mound for Pittsburgh. The game will be televised on MLB.TV.

Giants have the chips to move up in the first round

If the New York Giants are serious about getting a big-time receiver in the upcoming NFL Draft, the organziation has the bargaining chips to move up to the middle of the first round, according to the New York Daily News.

The Giants have the 29th selection in the draft and probably won't have a shot at Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree (a projected top-seven pick), or Missouri's Jeremy Maclin (a projected top-10 pick) and they would have to move up to get a shot at Maryland wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.

However, the Giants have chips to move into the middle of the first round if they want to give up one of their second-round picks, either their own (No. 60) or the pick they acquired from the Saints (No. 45) for Jeremy Shockey according to the Daily News.

The report also suggesed the Giants could put together a package for Arizona's Anquan Boldin, who could replace the troubled Plaxico Burress. Boldin still does not have a new deal from the Cardinals.

Knicks Come Up Short Against Cavs

Once again the New York Knicks lost another close one, this time to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 98-93. It was the 11th game the Knicks lost by 5 or fewer points and the first time since January 17th that they failed to score 100 points. Surprisingly they held Lebron to under 20 points but he still managed to get a double double. Al Harrington led the Knicks with 26 points and David Lee had yet another double double game. Chris Duhon did not play because of a back injury and Danilo Gallinari logged less than 6 minutes. Overall this was yet another game the Knicks should have won but they are still only 1 game out of the 8th and final playoff spot. They can score, we all know that, thier 4th in the league in scoring but its the defense that needs work which is currently ranked 28th. Their next game is wednesday againts the Nets who after playing well have gone 4-6 in their last 10, so hopefully the Knicks can get back on track with a win over the cross river rivals.

Rangers beat Flyers 4-1, Avery nets 2

The New York Rangers continued their playoff push with a dominant win over rival Philadelphia. After losing the first game of the 2 game set, the Rangers answered back by scoring 4 against the Flyers. All 4 Ranger goals came on the power play and while their play on the power play has improved they are still ranked 28th in that category. The highlight of the game was the elevated play of LW Sean Avery, in what was ultimately his best game of the season. His two goals and firery play sparked the Rangers to their 36th victory and put them in a tie with Montreal at 80 points. King Henrik earned his 31st win and had 24 saves on the day. Goals were also scored by Fredrik Sjostrom and Nik Antropov who has three goals in six games since being acquired from Toronto. (photo courtesy of yahoo sports)
